![]() ![]() Compared to the excellent terminal area in Boston, this was disappointing. Unfortunately, the T5 gate area is pretty dreadful, with the lack of power anywhere particularly problematic. After waiting in Terminal 6 for about an hour and a half, I headed to my jetBlue gate. I planned on passing some time at the Alaska Lounge, but unfortunately found the dreaded sign telling Priority Pass members to take a hike. Arrive: Boston Logan International Airport (BOS), Terminal C, Gate C9, 06:47, 26m early.Depart: Los Angeles International Airport (LAX), Terminal 5, Gate 59, 23:57, 7m late. With the basics out of the way, on to the review. These are fully-enclosed suites, providing the utmost in privacy for passengers. And of course, who doesn’t love lie flat seats? Photo courtesy īut the truly unique offering are the “Mint Suites”, single “throne” seats found in Rows 2 and 4. Free meals are nice, and jetBlue goes local by partnering with New York-based eateries. So what makes Mint special? You get the usual perks for domestic First, like priority boarding and security. Although originally designed to compete against other airlines’ premium transcontinental products, jetBlue expanded the service to select Caribbean destinations a couple of years ago. I’d argue that with its comfortable seat, above-and-beyond food options, and wonderful touches, it’s the business class to beat.Mint represents jetBlue’s entry into the premium cabin space, though jetBlue only offers it on select routes. There are plenty of airlines with fantastic business class options between New York and London, but for air travel junkies, the JetBlue experience is absolutely worth checking out. And the crew handed out personalized notes at the end of the flight, along with collectible Mint pins. The noise-canceling headphones were collected before we landed, but the team came around with earbuds for anyone who wanted to finish their movie. ![]() That made it much easier to stay connected for much of the flight, especially helpful for working during the daytime London to New York leg. The free Wi-Fi worked the entire way-starting from when we boarded, as opposed to after we had reached cruising altitude. There were several other details that made the Mint business class feel a notch above other transatlantic premium offerings. Extra touches that make JetBlue stand out Overall, I was incredibly happy with the meal service-I wish more airlines would adopt the ability to choose from several small plates, instead of a standard appetizer and only a choice of entrée. The supper, served right before landing, was a similar smaller meal, where I had an Italian clam soup and a sandwich (described as a panini on the menu, but ate much more like a grilled cheese). This time, I opted for roasted carrots with yogurt, shrimp curry, and cavatelli-it was equally filling and delicious, but I’ll admit I liked the dinner on the way over a bit more. The meal service was the same on the return flight, but with different snack and food options. And for those who want to get to sleep a bit sooner, there’s a set express meal (called the Shut-Eye menu on the New York to London leg), with three dishes and dessert, that can be served immediately.Ī pre-landing meal of soup, bread, and a sandwich Stephanie Wu There are five different dishes to choose from on each flight-two cold, three hot, including multiple vegetarian options-so you can build your own meal based on your preferences. Our menu was created in tandem with New York City restaurant Pasquale Jones, and it was ingeniously designed in a small plates–style. While I loved the seat and how comfortable it was, the food and beverage options on JetBlue’s Mint Suite blew me away. On both flights, I managed to watch a movie and get some sleep, which is pretty much exactly what I want out of a six- to seven-hour flight. I opted not to sign in, but still enjoyed the entertainment experience, where you could view all the movies and TV shows or browse by theme-the categories on our flight included London-themed movies, fittingly. And I liked the personalized touch of the television screen, where you could sign in and it would remember your preferences. I was impressed by the Tuft & Needle blanket, which comes with instructions on the back for a few different ways to customize the blanket, though I’ll admit that I was tired enough that I just used it as a regular blanket and didn’t bother with the snaps. Guests are greeted by a personalized message on the TV. ![]()
